Real talk storytelling, with an idealistic streak
From the climate crisis and mind-boggling technological change to new twists on social division, it's...kind of a lot to be a human right now. My goal here is to point my little headlamp toward some good cause for hope, to find common ground around unifying solutions, and to share inspiration along the way.
But I won't sugarcoat things either. We all could use more space to voice the doubt and anxiety that's par for the course in uncertain times like these.
For 25 years, I've been working with words to tell stories about meaningful but also hard, complex subjects. While the headlines and through lines always change, there's at least one common thread: I'm here to help make complicated, important ideas feel accessible and human.
And speaking of humans, I generally play well with them too, including at work. Some of my fave professional collaborations include:
When I'm away from my desk I'm either obsessing about air quality here in my beloved NorCal, nagging I mean playing with my kiddo and dog, or reading one of the dozen used books I probably just bought and have no shelf space for.
Wherever I am, I'm always looking for inspiring new stories to discover and help tell. Cuz that's my story.

- Editing the Chicago editions of Disney's Ideal Bite and NBC's The Feast
- Contributing as a writer on a sizable chunk of an Al Gore book about climate activism
- Helping create environmental science curriculum in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation
- Making a ton of contributed copy fit for print for a women's interest magazine, a Cool Globes guidebook, and more
